Stingrays got the season off to a great start at Underhill, with a seven try win over Waunarlwydd. The boys played with great awareness and structure, with the forwards setting the platform for some nice back play.Ball retention in the rucks was excellent,as was the counter rucking when Waun went to ground. All the team tackled well and the backs ran with great determination into the spaces.
We did spill the ball a little too much as a result of not carrying with both hands, but some of the support play was a joy to watch. On the whole, a great start with plenty to work on ahead of next weeks game against Swansea Uplands.
Sam Jones sustained a nasty looking injury half way through the first half and was taken to hospital with a suspected dislocation/break.He unforunately fell awkwardly onto his arm when tackled in full charge, and was clearly in pain.We all wish him well and hope he's back on the pitch in Mumbles colours soon.
STATS - try scorers; George Jawad (3),Joseph Phillips (1),Harry Davies (1),Jake Davies (1) and Connor Bateman (1)
no conversions were attempted!!
Well done to all the squad for a great start to the new season.See you in training on Wednesday .
